Day 16: Shopping

Today we went to Eastfield (otherwise known as Westfield Stratford City). As it's a modern shopping centre I find it convenient for shopping with a baby because it has lots of lifts, generally spacious shops, plenty of toilets that fit a buggy in, as well as 2 areas I can nurse in without having to buy anything or use the seats in the middle of the walkways. Plus it has lots of shops with baby clothes in.

Today's picture is of one of the pieces of Artwork in the outside area of the shopping centre.

Day 14: brrr winter has arrived

I can't really complain about it being freezing in January, especially as it's been so warm for most of the winter so far.
Today's picture is from my garden this morning: frozen sage

Friday 13th: Day 13

Today Baby M and I stayed home all day, not because I'm bothered about it being Friday 13th, but because it was cold out and I was feeling lazy.
We spent most of the day playing and napping (her not me). During the day Baby M rolled from her back to side for the first time in ages (she did it occasionally when a few weeks old, but lost the ability) and she managed to stay in a kind of sitting position for a few seconds (another first). She also managed to go the whole day without needing pain relief which is rare at the moment.
All in all a good day.

Day 12: Sleep

Normally I add these blog posts in the evening trying to settle Baby M when she wakes up for a feed. Last night she settled quickly and we both woke up on Day 13. This meant she went a brilliant 5 hours from one feed to the next. Not quite sleeping through, but a big improvement to the waking every 2 or 3 hours of recent weeks.
So my picture for Day 12 is me asleep ;-) (baby M was in a lot of pain from teething and possibly reflux so not many photo ops)

Day 11: a bad day for teething

Baby M has been in a lot of pain today from teething (I'm starting to think all things teeth related are bad). One of the things that has helped at times is chewing on Sophie.
I'm also massaging her gums, using gel, using powders, allowing comfort nursing and giving her painkillers. Sometimes some of the things work, other times nothing does. I feel so sad that she's got months of this ahead

Day 10: The Dentist

I haven't been to the dentist for a while. This is for 2 reasons: I hate dentists and my last dentist didn't remind M's when I was due to go back. I don't like them because they tend to cause me pain and they charge me for the pleasure. However one of the few benefits I get from the state is free dental care during pregnancy and for a year after. As I've only got 9 months left I thought I better get organised and go.
The appointment was painless and I was impressed that he took my baby out of the room before x-raying my teeth. So after 5 years of not going to the dentist what was his verdict? I need one filling replacing. Not bad I reckon, so to celebrate I ate chocolate :-)

Day 9: good ole reliable books

I think books and reading are very important. The future may be full of kindles and e readers (which are great and would be happily received, hint hint), but there is something comforting about having a physical and solid book in front of you.
Baby M has had a library card since she was a month old and she has a growing collection of her own books as well.
Today our plans to meet up with the NCT mum's & babies was cancelled due to illness and tiredness so we had a quiet day and "read" a book.

Day 8: Sunday

Today I took advantage of Baby M's dad being home: I had an extra hour in bed, had all my meals made for me and I had a clear out.

Saturday, 7 January 2012

Day 7: squid for breakfast

Baby M played with Captain Calamari (who I have decided is a woman) while I ate my breakfast.

Day 6: On the twelfth day of Christmas my true love gave to me...

...a toilet that flushes in less than 15 minutes (after a visit from the plumber), 3 bedtime stories (and still no sign of sleep) and naked living room walls (as the Christmas decorations needed to come down).

Day 5: After a sleepless night...

I keep going with the help of caffeine, baby sleeps whenever she wants (but unfortunately not so much last night)

Day 4

Up early to tidy the house and get things ready for guests who cancelled.

Red sky at night shepherds delight. Red sky in morning should have gone back to bed?

Day 3: water water everywhere

Today the weather was wet and horrible, so what's a mama and her baby to do?
Go swimming of course

January in pictures:1st day

I'm planning to do a photo blog everyday in January to record the beginning of 2012. I thought about writing a post a day, but that isn't likely to be achievable so...

1st January 2012, New Year's Day
A walk in the rain on a wet day to wash away all the remnants of 2011 followed by a roast of beautifully cooked rib of beef. Yum
